We need to be thankful to US Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch for awarding Mariam the “Woman of Courage” award while she was charged with reporting a false crime. I believe this action turned the case around. It’s unfortunate that the Armenian authorities will only do the right thing when they know they’re being watched. The roots of this problem extend through almost all aspects of Armenian society. It’s resolution will only come through economic, societal, political, and environmental maturation…maybe several generations from now. Hampere hokis…hampere.

Thank you for the information you’ve provided here. I send money to Armenia monthly through a relief organization that directly benefits the families and the facilities in the communities in which those families are located. I’m gratified to know I haven’t inadvertently been funding unethical boarding schools!
