WE are always ready to see the dark side of issues. I think , by publisheing kardashian on a Turkish cosmo is telling Turks everywhere " in your face, we are still around , we are still successful, and we are still beautiful." I am glad this picture is creating some disscussion good or bad better than being ignnored, forgotten or disappeared. Sometimes negative generates positive. And this is such a case. Bravo!

Yes Lusine, sorry about the mis-spelling, no offence intended (symptom of my computer generation; letters, commas and capitals flying out all over the place!).
I understand the history I just find it amusing how so many diaspora think they know what's best for native Armenian's(whether RT or RA) when they sit comfortably on the other side of the world.
You are most likely right about her release rights in turkey and I made the mistake of assuming cosmo could distribute the material to any of their branches around the world. call me naive but I probably wouldn't go so far as to say this is a "turkish plan". The editorial of turk cosmo most likely don't have any idea of the 24th commemorations. These people live in a country where the word Ermeni is taboo unless followed by condescending slander(slightly exaggerated ).
I would be interested to hear how Turkish Armenians(or, in order to sound less crass maybe, Armenians residing in Anatolia) felt when they bought their turk mag and saw 'one of their own' on the cover? Obviously cosmos sole readership is not limited to turks because Armenian's(Greeks...) speak turkish too! Could this not be another positive step towards armenians having greater acceptance in turkish society? Can this not make some people feel a little better?
It's quotes like Hamparian's which aggravate me. Im not against genocide recognition in turkey but people have been going down this road the same way for so long and in the process just built a bigger brick wall in front of them. But not only this, many people have had to suffer along the way with armenians being pushed further to the fringe of turkish society to those in RA languishing in greater poverty due to a closed border.
There are people in turkey doing great work to try and put armenians back in the spotlight in a positive way without all the genocide mantra (even still this is tough work as we saw with Hrant Dink).
First turks need proper education before they can develop an independent questioning ability. Giving them answers to questions they are not asking is not getting anyone anywhere! So why are people asking cosmo of all people to do this?

Dear R. yan;
your quote;
anyone from these “armenin groups” ever lived ın turkey?

Have you ever learned how to properly spell Armenian? and yes most of us are descendants of indigenous people who resided in what today is known as (ROT) Turkey (est. 1923) 11 centuries before the invasion of the mongolian Turkic tribes from Central Asia.

Kim Kardashian owns her name and likeness. Cosmo Turkey didn't have a release or the rights to use her photo or name on anything without proper permission.
IMO it is another one of Turkey's plans gone wrong like the flotilla--trying to come off as great humanitarians which only backfired on them.

Turkish Media probably just wanted to show the world how they appreciate beauty and the many different cultures of what today is known as the ROT (Republic of Turkey) but their intentions once again backfire on them.

This is not unproductive it is about getting the proper legal release to use a name and likeness. But I will agree that people end up in jail for less in Turkey. Especially if they burn Islamic Imam Fethullah Gulen or anyone in the Gulen Movement, currently there are over 60 journalists in Turkey's jails who have dared to write the truth about Gulen.

The world is watching and not liking this type of "democracy" that Turkey professes to practice.

Here is a novel idea for Turkey, try some humanitarianism with the Kurds, Armenians, Pontic Greeks, Greeks, the people who inhabited this land way before there was such a thing as ROT.

ahh when are these folk gonna get real!! how can cosmo put anythıng ın theır turkısh mag about genocıde? has anyone from these "armenin groups" ever lived ın turkey? if they publıshed such a thıng they would sure be put in legal strife and people have ended up in jaıl for much less. why cant you just be happy that an armenıan gal is on the cover of such a popular magazine in turkey? Thats probably a big thing for a lot of turks. I think armenıans in turkey have enough trouble without diasporans continually rustling up emotions in rather unproductive ways.
