I think we are products of our parents and our environment. I am American. I'm also half Armenian and half German, but I am also Global. My friends aren't just in the US of A. I am very much my parent's child, but also a product of my environment which has been global. I am grateful for all the influences in my life. My Turkish friends are not the ones who were involved in the Armenian Genocide. They may be related but do not believe what was done was right. I am a child of the world as well as Armenian and I am proud of it all, even the paradoxes.

This is what the author is explaining, you dont have to follow any rules if you still want to feel armenian. I personally dont feel armenian but i recognise this part of my heritage and like to identify with it just like that of my irish, scottish, dutch etc parts. I and so many others could just as easily ignore our armenian side because it's not dominant and we dont follow ancient traditions. however, ı feel thıs to be a loss for ones self and that of armenıans and global communities where a conciousness of armenians is easily forgotten. also, ı thınk more armenians shouldnt be afraid of 'hanging out' in turkey becuase they have been hanging out here for thousands of years and for many thıs ıs their homeland, not in caucasus. Thanks for you comment and ı hope thıs msg is understandable ;)

Ryan:

If you feel Armenian then you shouldn't be dating a turkish girl and hanging out in turkey. Doesn't it make more sense for you to be in Armenia and have an Armenian girlfriend? Or maybe I just wierd to think that, probably not though.

thanks for your story. even though ı am only an eighth armenian i can still take comfort in that. Now i am lıving in turkey and ıt's nıce to have that small part of me whıch can help me connect with thıs foreign land. My turkish girlfriend is also seeing her city in a different light...though how much longer she can take another, "that was designed by an armenian architect.." and "this was an armenian neighbourhood before..." etc, before she gets bored! what ım sayıng is ıt doesnt matter how much armenıan you are if you can still feel a connection and share it with those around you giving a greater picture of the true multiculturalism.

Thank you for your insight. I must say though one characteristic that you share with other Diasporan Armenians is the actuall energy that must be put into preserving your Armenian Identity. It's not exclusive to half Armenians and in any case I view all as just Armenian, drop the half. Any one with the conscientious effort as you've described is much more "Armenian" then one who has not given any effort.
