I fail to see what xstatic process's outrage is all about. In this day and age, it's somewhat misleading and derogatory to refer to segregate each other and categorize ourselves as being part of the white rate, the black race, the orange race. We are part of the human race, period. In fact, some of us don't even think of being as white or being people of colour (although I've been referred to as such by African friends - because they deduced that I didn't encompass your average white person - whatever that means in today's heterogenous relationships). Instead, we actively refer to our ethnicity or ethnicities as the focal point of our identity.

I just got my census in the mail. I was surprised to see the entire thing is about race and relationships! I'm a proud Armenian who married an "odar" and we are adoptive parents of two wonderful Chinese daughters. I'm not sure how to feel about the census itself, and the "Count Me In" movement.

Our family enjoys and celebrates each of our cultures, and we see the value and differences in ethnicity across the world. God gives us dignity because humans are all made in His image, all descendents of Adam and Eve, and we all share the same DNA. Even most evolutionists agree that humanity sprang from one source and through time and intermarriage our bloodlines divided us. What is race but a manmade way of classifying people?

Check out this book, One Blood," by Ken Ham, Carl Wieland and Don Batten. www.christiananswers.net/q-aig/race-definition.html

Hey Visitor, Armenia is in West Asia. Not Eastern Europe.

We, just like Kurds, Turks, and Georgians, are on a racial borderline. In Russia, Armenians are regarded as "Blacks" and several of us have been killed by neo-Nazi gangs.

Race is about how we are identified socially, not how we self-identify, and consequently, it's ambiguous and up for interpretation. We identify as Armenian. I'll let you interpret that as you will.

This is just plain silly. Beyond the fact that Armenians are white like any other eastern European ethnic group, does she really think she's going to succeed in getting more than a few thousand people to do what she's requesting? The notion that Armenians should view themselves as another race is absurd. It's not as if we are descended from some unique racial group with origins in New Guinea. The funding issue aside, the women interviewed at ACS have it right, and her efforts would probably be better served by trying to improve the ACS process to address the undercount. The only outcome of her effort will be that Glendale, CA, will have the highest proportion of other race citizens in the US.
