Present cuisine in Armenia very Russian influenced. This isn't bad per say but it has been at expense of traditional Armenian food and taste preferences. You can't even find lamb in Armenia much anymore. Pork and beef only. Walk through Yerevan and all you'll see as fast food is "lahmajo" (the lahmajoun imported by the akhpars) and the ubiquitous 'shawurma'.They just opened a Pizza Hut to boot. Those olives in the photo can't be goood unless they're imported from Greece (Turkish ones smuggled in). Those imported under Coopoliva label are worthless. The bastourma and soujukh heaped up in store shelves at holiday time are also western Armenian. You have to get out to the remaining villages for good traditional fare.

The first picture looks like a typical Russian dish known as "vinaigrette" in Armenia rather than "pickled vegetables" (though it includes pickles).

Kind of like this but without the sauerkraut: http://www.foodbuzz.com/recipes/1548155-vinaigrette-russian-salad- and here: http://windowstorussia.com/recipe-from-russia-simple-russian_01.html
