Inga and Anush Arshakyans to Represent Armenia in Eurovision 2009

Sister act Inga and Anush Arshakyans were chosen on Feb. 14, 2009 to represent Armenia in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow with their song interchangeably called “Nor Par” (New Dance) and “Jan Jan.”

Inga and Anush, who started their career in 2000 by entering the National Song Theater of Armenia will follow three years of successful entries for Armenia, including Sirusho, who finished fourth in 2008 and  Andre and Hayko who took eigth place in 2006 and 2007 respectively.

Reactions on the Facebook page created for Inga and Anush for Eurovision 2009 were mixed. Some praised the duo because of their strong performance ability while others disapproved of their choice of song.

About 20 Armenian singers applied for a chance to participate in the song contest, which has taken place annually among active member countries of the European Broadcasting Union since 1956, including Arame and Mher.

The 2009 Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Moscow from May 12 to 16. Dima Bilan won the title for Russia in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Believe Me.” The contest.
